Tax Preparation Support
Year-end preparation, 1099s, and CPA coordination.
I do not prepare or file your tax return. What I do is make sure that when your tax professional sits down to do it, everything they need is already in order and nothing is missing.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. A good deal of what accountants bill for at tax time is not tax work at all. It is bookkeeping cleanup that could have been done months earlier, at a lower rate, on records still fresh enough to ask questions about. Books that arrive organized are cheaper to file from and far less likely to produce surprises.
Year-end closing entries come first. Accounts are reconciled through the end of the period, adjustments are recorded, owner draws and contributions are separated from business expenses, and depreciation schedules are updated where they apply. The point is that the year is genuinely closed rather than merely over.
Contractor documentation is the other piece with a hard deadline. I track payments to contractors across the year rather than reconstructing them in January, so 1099 preparation becomes a matter of confirming what is already recorded and getting current information on file. Missing or late 1099s carry penalties per form, and they are entirely avoidable.
I work directly with your CPA or tax preparer, in whatever format they prefer, and answer their questions about the records rather than routing every one of them back to you. If you do not have a tax professional yet, clean books make finding one considerably easier.
If you have been through a tax season where the scramble started in February, the difference here is mostly that the work moved. It gets done earlier, in smaller pieces, by someone whose job it is.
